Launched by Barbara Twhigg, daughter of Sir John Roberts, a director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand from 1903 to 1931.

Delivered as Kaituna to the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand.

The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company sold their interest in the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand to Tasman Union Ltd, therefore the vessel was no longer in Group service.

Laid up at Auckland.

Sold to the Climax Shipping Corp, Monrovia (Maldives Shipping Ltd, Male, managers) and renamed Climax Jade.

Transferred to the Maldives Shipping Ltd, Male, and renamed Maldive Jade.

Sold to Fortune Shipping Co Ltd, Male (Maldives National Shipmanagement Ltd, Male, managers) and renamed Fortune Seagull.

Laid up at Colombo.
