Completed as Tanglin for Norddeutscher Lloyd of Bremen for their Singapore/ Bangkok service at a cost of £38,500.

Dropped a blade from her propeller while entering Moreton Bay and had to go into dry-dock at Brisbane.

Chartered to convoy members and equipment of the German Antarctic expedition to the Kerguelen Islands, where they joined the expedition ship Gauss.
1908
Sold to Bengal Steam Navigation Company along with her sister Paknam.

British India Steam Navigation Company acquired Paknam and her sister Tanglin at an auction at Rangoon for a total of Rs 600,000. Both went to Calcutta for a refit and the Tanglin was renamed Zira.

Takeover of British India Steam Navigation Company by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed.

On the Colombo/Tuticorin service.
1916/1917
Served as an Indian Expeditionary Force transport.
1918
Returned to its original Bangkok/Singapore service.

Sold for £9,121 to the Shawhsing Steamship Co Ltd of Newchwang and renamed Hohsing for trading on the China coast.

She was sold to a Japanese company and renamed Wako Maru.
03.08.1945
Mined off Wakasa Bay, Honshu.
1950
The wreck was located in shallow water and she was subsequently cut up for scrap.
