Completed as Breeze for the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company.

Arrived at Dunedin after a delivery voyage of 59 days, 19 hours.
08.1935
Collided with and sank the Timaru fishing boat Bessie off Pareora. Three crew rescued.

Collided with the tug Terawhiti at Wellington harbour, sustaining minor damage.
03.03.1942
Taken up for war service at the rate of £10 per day to replace the lost HMS Puriri.
24.10.1942
Commissioned with the 25th Minesweeping Flotilla after a refit at Port Chalmers. She was armed with one 4-inch gun, four machine guns and depth charges. Served in New Zealand waters until going to the Solomons in April 1943 to replace HMNZS Moa. Served with Comsopac (US Navy) on escort and anti-submarine patrols.

Minor collision with the USS LST 895 off Guadalcanal.
24.10.1944
Declared surplus.

Reconverted for trade at a cost of £22,000.

Re-measured. Now 625 grt, 314 nrt.

Rescued crew of mfv Endeavour off Kaikoura. The fishing boat was taken in tow but later sank.

Sold to the Madrigal Shipping Company, Manila, without a change of name.

Renamed Balabac.

Sold to Balabac Navigation Company Inc of the Philippines without a change of name.

Renamed Don Benigno.

Renamed Don Esteban.
