Completed as Wanaka for the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand. She was the first ship in the company to be fitted with a bulbous bow.

The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company sold their interest in the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand to Tasman Union Ltd, therefore the vessel was no longer in Group service.
01.03.1975
Laid up at Dunedin.
03.1976
Sold to Sealanes Transport Corporation, Monrovia (Seaways Shipping & Trading Co SA, Piraeus, managers) and renamed Rata Hills.
1978
Registry transferred to Iniochos Shipping Ltd, Piraeus (Seaways Shipping & Trading Co SA, Piraeus, managers) and renamed Iniochos Express.
1980
Under charter to BAISA Brittany Ferries (Bretagne-Angleterre-Irlande) Roscoff, France, and renamed Breizh-Izel.
1989
Sold to Seatruck Services Ltd, Nicosia (Marlines SA, Piraeus, managers) and renamed Duchess M.
1991
Ownership transferred to Marelite Marine Co Ltd, Limassol (Marlines SA, Piraeus, managers) without a change of name.
2000
Renamed Balbek.

Laid up Eleusis Bay near Piraeus.
