Rescued the crew of 10 of the Danish ship Gudrun Kansas who were forced to abandon ship in heavy weather in the Bay of Biscay after her timber cargo shifted.

The (then) largest container ship to call at an Arabian port in the Gulf, on the P&O Strath/Ellerman/United Arab Shipping Co joint venture Arabian Peninsular Container Line.

Ownership and management transferred to Overseas Containers Ltd. Deadweight now 29,262 tonnes.

Sent to be re-engined by Govan Shipbuilders Ltd, Glasgow with Burmeister & Wain diesel engine manufactured by Harland & Wolff Ltd, Belfast.
