- Ran aground 14km (9 miles) from the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, but came off on the following tide.

- The Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand was sold to Tasman Union Ltd and therefore no longer remained a P&O subsidiary company.

- Sold to Marama Nav SA, Panama (Handel Maats Oceanhandel NV, Rotterdam, managers) and renamed Arnhem.

- Management transferred to Sealanes NV, Antwerp.
