Delivered as Empire Glory to the Ministry of War Transport (E J Sutton & Co, managers).
29.08.1946
Management transferred to the British India Steam Navigation Company.
01.03.1948
Sold for £112,000 to the British India Steam Navigation Company and renamed Goalpara. She was the only deep-sea Empire-class ship bought by the company.
04.1950
Converted from coal to oil-firing.
04.1953
She had become surplus to requirements as more modern tonnage was delivered to the company. Sold for £270,000 to Bharat Line Ltd, Bombay and renamed Bharatveer.
21.10.1963
Driven ashore 8km (5 miles) north of Madras during a cyclone. The ship was on a voyage from Calcutta to Cuddalore.
22.10.1963
Fire broke out on board which gutted the ship completely. She was declared a constructive total loss and sold to buyers in Bombay for demolition.
