Completed for the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand as Komata. She served as a Pacific Islands Nauru phosphates cargo carrier.
08.12.1940
Outbound from Auckland the ship was sunk off Nauru by the German Commerce Raider Komet during her first cruise. Two crew were killed. Komet landed a total of 496 survivors on Emirau Island, Bismarck Archipelago after she had also sunk Triadic, Triona and Triaster.
