Delivered as Cape Igvak for the US War Shipping Administration (Marine Transport Lines Inc, Beaumont, managers).
06.02.1947
Management transferred to Grace Line Inc, New York.
26.02.1947
Acquired by the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand and renamed Wairata.
02.07.1947
Switched to the New Zealand/Malaysia/Bangladesh/India/Sri Lanka/Pakistan service with some calls at Indonesia.

Involved in a collision with the Rangitane at Auckland.
1951
Sent to Vancouver to have refrigeration installed.
25.02.1954
On a passage from Auckland to Singapore, she took in tow the disabled tanker British Yeoman and in seven days managed to tow her 2,140km (1,325 miles) to Singapore.

Re-measured. Now 5,282 grt, 2,864 nrt.
1967
Sold to Ta Teh Steamship Co SA, Panama (Tung Lee Navigation Co Ltd, Hong Kong, managers) and renamed Successful Day.

Sold to Taiwan shipbreakers and arrived at Kaohsiung for breaking up.
