- Delivered as Rangitiki for New Zealand Shipping Company at a cost of £613,500. She was followed by two sister ships, Rangitata and Rangitane and was the largest British motor vessel to date.
- 15.02.1929
- Maiden voyage Southampton/Madeira/Panama/New Zealand and return followed by a week at her builder’s for modifications to rectify any teething troubles.
- 26.09.1929
- Resumed commercial service.
- 06.10.1947
- Chartered to Ministry of Transport for the voyage to Glasgow for a £1½ million refit including being fitted with 15,000 bhp Doxford diesels. Speed now 16 knots. Passenger capacities 122 first class and 283 tourist class. Re-measured. Now 16,985 grt.

- Delivered at Santander to be broken up.
