Handed over as Mapourika for Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand at a cost of £34,553. She was designed for the Wellington/Nelson/Westport/Greymouth service.

Went ashore on the seaward side of the North Tiphead at Greymouth. In order to salvage the vessel it was necessary to virtually slide her over the breakwater and re-launch her into the river. Nearly 100 men spent 4 months in preparation and she was successfully re-launched 10 March 1899.

Transferred to the Wellington/Lyttelton service.

Ran aground off Picton.

Suffered damage off Pencarrow.

Stranded in the French Pass.

Grounded at Nelson.

Once again, she stranded off Nelson.

Takeover of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed.

Transferred to the Wellington/Picton/Nelson service.

Sold to the Anchor Shipping & Foundry Ltd (another P&O subsidiary and thus she did not leave P&O Group service). She was renamed Ngaio for the Nelson/Wellington overnight service and registered at Nelson.

Re-measured. Now 725 nrt.
1927
Re-measured. Now 712 nrt.

Struck the quay at Wellington.

Broken up at Nelson by Jackson & Co.
