Delivered as Palermo for The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company at a cost of £106,761. She was first of the 5-strong ‘P’ class. Palermo is the capital of Sicily, the island province of southern Italy.

Detained by Chinese Customs under suspicion of carrying arms for Japan.

Fitted with refrigerated cargo facilities.

Run into by the sailing vessel Retrieve while anchored at Garden Reach, Calcutta.
1915/1917
Employed as an Australian transport, and requisitioned by the Shipping Controller afterwards.
1922
Diverted to pick up mails from Egypt, which had been sunk.
22.10.1924
Sold for £18,000 to Italiana Prodotti Metallici, Italy, for demolition.
