Keel laid. The first of four sisters ordered by P&O, followed by Ardshiel, Ardlui and Ardvar.

Launched.

Named by Mrs Mizukami.

Delivered as Ardtaraig to The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (Trident Tankers Ltd, managers). At the time, she was the largest ship in the P&O fleet. Placed on a ten-year time-charter to British Petroleum. Ardtaraig is a ‘seat’ at Inverlochaolain, Argyllshire.

Arrived at Angle Bay Terminal, Milford Haven, at the end of her maiden voyage from Japan via the Gulf.
16.08.1971
Management and operations transferred to P&O Bulk Shipping Division.
1974
One of the first two P&O ships given painted hull markings for Lloyd’s Register trials of in-water surveys.
11.05.1979
Sold for about £2.75 million to Fineas Compania Naviera SA, Greece and renamed Kypros.
20.11.1982
Entered service as a storage vessel at Bangkok.
1982
Sold for scrap to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co Ltd, South Korea.
29.07.1982
Arrived at Ulsan from Bangkok.
05.08.1982
Demolition commenced.
