Takeover of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand (Richardson & Company a subsidiary company) by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed.

Involved in a collision with the scow Seagull at Auckland. The scow was beached and badly damaged.

A passenger drowned off Hick’s Bay.

Laid up for four months as a result of a dispute with the New Zealand Seamen’s Union. Subsequently refitted and the superstructure altered.

Sprung a leak at Nelson.

Struck a reef off Cape Palliser while on a voyage from Napier to Wellington.

Her machinery was damaged at Auckland.

Struck the wharf at Napier while sailing short-handed as the result of an industrial dispute. She was escorted back to Auckland for repairs by the Tangaroa.
