Delivered as Norland to North Sea Ferries Ltd (North Sea Ferries, managers). She replaced Norwave on the Hull/Rotterdam service.

P&O Ferries appointed managers.
17.04.1982
Requisitioned by the UK Ministry of Defence for service with the Falklands Task Force and converted to a troopship at Portsmouth Dockyard.
26.04.1982
Sailed from Portsmouth carrying the Second Battalion of the Parachute Regiment.
21.05.1982
Arrived off San Carlos Water where her troops were disembarked. Later used to carry prisoners-of-war to Montevideo and Puerto Madryn.
06.01.1983
Released from service.
02.02.1983
Arrived at Hull.
27.06.1987
Returned to service after being lengthened by 20.25m by Seebeckwerft AG. Now 26,290 gt, 5,560 dwt; 736 berthed, 290 unberthed passengers, 104 crew. Placed on the Hull/Zeebrugge service. Length o/a now 173.25m (568.4ft), draught 6.027m (19.8ft).
