- Launched. She had been laid down at Dunmora and renamed on the stocks.
- 29.12.1891
- Completed as Dilwara for British India Associated Steamers at a cost of £109,700.
- 1895
- When the London/Brisbane service ceased, Dilwara was employed on seasonal Indian trooping.
- 1899/1900
- Made six voyages from British ports, five from Southampton and one from Queenstown (Cobh), to Cape Town during the Boer War.

- Transferred, along with her sister Dunera, from British India Associated Steamers, to British India Steam Navigation Company. She did continue on the same route, although she served occasionally on the Calcutta/Rangoon/ Straits service until the outbreak of war.

- Converted to cargo ship.

- Takeover of British India Steam Navigation Company by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed.

- Carried Territorials to India to relieve the British Regular garrison.

- While at Bombay, a bunker fire broke out. Damage to the ship meant that sailings were interrupted.
