Completed as Loongana for Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand at a cost of £87,794. She was intended for the Melbourne/Launceston service, she was the first ocean-going turbine steamer.

Left on her maiden voyage to Melbourne.

Takeover of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed.
12.1918
During the unloading of a spare propeller shaft, it fell out of its sling and went straight through the bottom of the ship.
01.01.1922
Transferred (along with Oonah) to Tasmanian Steamers Pty, Melbourne, when it was formed. Retained the same name and service.
03.11.1936
Sold to Tanaka Kabusiki Kaisya, Osaka, for scrapping. She was towed there by Kanna.
